Waybury Inn
Good Recommendation
Reviewed by BigEater on June 25, 2012
A friend whom we were visiting in Ripton recommended the Waybury Inn, but one is never sure until the restaurant is put to the test, a meal. They had an outstanding carrot & orange soup which we greatly enjoyed despite the warm weather. The dining room menu had a number of standard dishes (duck, rack of lamb) plus a few pretty unusual selections. My wife & I shared an calamari appetizer, which, while not incredible had a very nice (maybe a little mild) wasabe sauce. We both ordered the venison au poivre which probably falls somewhere between standard & unusual, which was outstanding with an excellent sauce. I loved the broccoli and carrots, though my wife would have liked them cooked a bit more. Overall the meal was delicious. I would point out that the prices noted by 7 Nights is for their Pub menu and the dining room menu was in the $23 to $30+ range for our entree. It was a very nice dining experience though we weren't served bread until requested and though we were given bread we were told it's not normal for them to provide it with the meal. A bit unusual from my experience thus the lower food rating. The waiter was very good and the meal was served in a timely fashion, though I felt he was a little snooty, thus the 4 for service.
