Pho Hong
Good Food Masked by Unpleasant Service
Reviewed by jlgoodma on December 21, 2012
I finally decided to go back to Pho Hong after my latest experience. Let me explain: I had ordered take out (a simple veggie pho). I was told 20 minutes. I arrived shortly after 20 minutes, went to the register, gave my name, and was told to wait until ready. It was busy at the time, but I managed to get the stool seat by the door. The crowd subsided as I waited patiently for my food. At this point, I was still sitting in the stool facing the register wondering when my food would be ready. 25 minutes later (45 minutes total since I had called), I finally made my way to the counter. As I explained my frustration, the guy at the counter said it's been ready for a long time just sitting here. I said I gave my name to the other guy, you need better communication. I was astonished that over the 25 minutes in the restaurant, neither of the 2 guys at the counter checked up on me to see why I was waiting (even though I had given my name to 1 of them). As I stood there explaining by frustration, the 1 guy rudely said "just take your food and leave [without paying]." I was so caught off guard by his rudeness, I actually left to cry in my car before driving home. So, months later, I finally returned. The food is still just as good (I hate to admit), but can the other person I'm dining with, for once, get their food at the same time?! And, can the Asian woman that's always there one day smile?
