Reservoir Restaurant & Tap Room, The
Better than expected!

The Mac & Cheese is dry, fluffy and delectable! The entrees were a little bit on the "direct from freezer" & over-oiled side, and they use too much oil/butter on everything. No rolls or bread served before or with entrees. Next time I will try the sandwiches & salads. But the wine list is a pleasant surprise, and the seats are comfy and they play a great music mix very softly and the lighting is relaxing.

GLAD TO SEE YOU CARE

I am replying as affiliated because I am not reviewing. I will of course come back to Leunigs because it is sometimes VERY GOOD. Rather than defend yourselves, however, and pump up your existing protocols... I suggest that you institute some new protocols and train the waitstaff to let your customers know when a dish is not up to par on a particular night! They know... a lot better than someone sitting with a group and trying to order a good meal. If someone orders a $40 bottle of wine, why not give them a heads up that the Beef Bourg might not be the best accompaniment tonite?

sometimes it is very good....

... and sometimes NOT. Places like Leunigs should let you know when the chef is off for the night, and not just let the staff do their best. If you have "invested" in a nice bottle of wine, it is a sincere disappointment to be served substandard French food. it is especially sad to get a botched favorite dish. Do you go back & try again, or assume that they can't do it anymore? If they simply explained that the Chef is "off tonight", and suggested "easy" menu choices we would not have this quandary.

Did this place sell?

Just awful! It seemed so totally incompetent that we didn't even bother sending it all back to where it came from. Enjoyed our bottle of wine, ate what seemed edible, and might come back some day for a duck taco... but will NEVER again order based on what the server says, or assuming that they have a clue what to do in the kitchen.

Improvement

I am very ambivalent about this place. I want to like it, but the menu is risky at best... a little safer if you can substitute veggies or fries for any of the various risottos and mashs that otherwise get plopped on your plate. I stick mostly to salads & pizza, but have tasted some very nicely cooked entrees recently. I think they are a bit pricey, but if this is where you hang, you can get good food.

Glad I went back!

This is turning into a pretty nice little unpretentious place. OK, the BBQ and the rest of the menu is diner-quality, but not like diners around here. There is a genuine Southern charm about some of the dishes, the wine glasses are generous, the music selection is mellow, the chairs are comfortable, the lighting is fine... If you want real good BBQ, keep driving to Local Folks in Waitsfield. If you want a good meal in comforatable surroundings, you can plunk it down here.
