Cornerstone Pub & Kitchen
Thumbs up

went for lunch a few weeks ago. The fish and chips were some of the best I've had in a while. The veggie(edamame?) burger was a bit mushy. I liked that it was house made vs a boca burger but the recipe could use a bit of refinement. They had a great variety of beers on tap from a broad geographical reach. Though they all seemed like second tier microbrew offerings so a serious beer snob might not be happy here. The upside is that the drafts were reasonably priced.

Good food, great beer, great value

With $6 and up beers being the norm elsewhere in Central VT(I'm looking at you 3 Penny) Its nice to see the Alchemist continues to serve great beer at $4 a pint. Couple that with a varied menu mostly under $10 that has vegetarian friendly options and you have an unbeatable combo. The only downside to this is the wait which seems to be consistently quoted at 40 minutes but is often much less than that.

While not as cheap as traditional fast food. The SP in Montpelier provides a good value for what you get. Not to mention good local beer on tap.

Kismet
Montpelier's Hidden Gem
Reviewed by brb729 on June 26, 2008
Though slightly off the beaten path of Montpelier's "State&Main" thoroughfare, it is worth the half mile walk down Barre street.(you'll be thankful for it to walk off the generous portions afterwards. On to the food. Kismet has an excellent menu featuring local ingredients with plenty of options to satisfy vegetarians and omnivores alike. For breakfast, I recommend getting anything with that comes with roots which will change the way you think about homefries forever. While the space is small and funky(one of the reasons I've taken so long for a review is that I selfishly don't want any competition for a seat at breakfast), the presentation and quality of the dishes rival that found in high end restaurants. Also to my knowledge this is the only place in town to get freshly made juice and they offer an extensive beverage selection all freshly made.

Positive Pie — Montpelier
Stick with the pizza

Have gotten pizza from here several times and have always been happy. For a change of pace last week we ordered eggplant parm heroes. Big mistake, doughy and soggy is an understatement. At $10 for a sandwich I expect the quality to be good. Great place for a beer and a slice but thats about it.
