Hung Tao
Happy Family

Somehow we never got around to ordering from Hung Tao before. I think we were making an assumption that because it's located in a shopping plaza it couldn't be very good. Shame on us. We ordered on a Saturday night and were very pleased. The food was hot. The portions were bigger than I expected and we had lots of leftovers to enjoy all week long. Now that we know we have a gem in the 'hood we'll order more often.

Farmhouse Tap & Grill, The
Just a great meal!

Having read some critical reviews we weren't sure what to expect but this restaurant is terrific! We went to celebrate a birthday with dinner. We shared two appetizers--a small cheese plate and one that featured duck. Both were excellent, well presented and arrived at the table in a flash. For entrees we had a beef burger and the meatloaf. Everything was done perfectly, served piping hot and the serving sizes were HUGE! Either this place has adjusted their portions or previous reviewers have monster appetites. The potatoes were flavorful and the seasonal veggies were cooked to the perfect degree of crisp tender. Since it was a birthday of course we had dessert. The raspberry crisp came out so hot that the ice cream just melted into it...yum! Not overly sweet just a really nice way to serve up seasonal berries. The chocolate layer cake was the largest piece of cake I have ever seen. It would have fed 3-4. It was not the best chocolate cake I've had (a little dry) but we didn't pick this place for dessert. The prices were a bargain! For two people, dinner with drinks, appetizers, and dessert came to $85. Reasonable for locally, well-prepared food and great service. The service was outstanding! Water kept full, empty plates cleared away promptly. Drink orders taken immediately and arrived promptly. Even though the place got progressively busier we never felt like we were being rushed -- we lingered over appetizers and beers before we ordered and then waited a bit before ordering dessert and never were made to feel like we were holding anyone up. We arrived early-about 5:30-having heard about the wait and were seated right away. The dining area is loud - but we were sitting against a wall and could still hear each other perfectly well without having to shout. I do wonder what it will be like in the winter when the beer garden and patio aren't available for the overflow but we'll go back to this restaurant often.

Not great but good enough...

We've eaten here twice since it opened. The first time we had burgers all around. They were not bad but also nothing special. The second time we had the fish and chips. This was a good choice except the fries were cold and ordinary. Still the prices are decent for a neighborhood hangout. The service the first time was a bit lacking but much improved the second time even though they were much busier the second time. I'm thrilled to have a dining choice close to home that is affordable. I have say the sports motif is not at all my style but we'll probably go back.

Outstanding food & service

Had a wonderful meal here earlier this week. There was hardly anyone in the place so no wonder there seemed to be only 2 folks working. But the food was amazingly good. The steak was done perfectly and the duck was also excellent. Will certainly go back although the dining area is a bit dark and feels crowded.

Bistro Sauce
Almost perfect!

We had a really excellent lunch at Sauce on Saturday. The only thing that would have made it better was if we could have been outside on the patio but it was raining (what else is new) so we were shown to a nice booth near a window. Note to management: the booths could use cushions. There were 2 of us and after scanning the menu we decided to split 2 entrees. We had the flatbread and the mussels. Both were really good but the broth with the mussels was awesome!! Fries came with the flatbread which was an unexpected (but yummy) surprise. We split a ricotta brownie for dessert--again really good. Everything was nicely presented. Service was very good but to be fair we were well past the lunch rush. No complaints. We'll be back next time we're passing through Shelburne.

After reading the reviews we decided to stop by for dinner. It was early when we arrived and the parking lot was almost empty-- by the time we left the place was full. The deck was full so we were seated inside. I was disappointed to see the inside was pretty dark and our tiny table was right in the path of traffic so not particularly relaxing. The chairs I could swear were the same ones left from Tortilla Flats(not suited for long dinners). The beer menu is no great shake for a pub. The beer we ordered came quickly and the entire time we were there the water glasses never came close to empty. We ordered the shared supper of pork. The meal came with a deviled egg, salads, and 2 sides. The deviled egg was great but serving on a large serving board seemed a bit of overkill given our little table. Salads were great. Fresh greens with a nice dressing. Sadly our bread had been served much earlier and was gone before the salads showed up. The serving of pork was HUGE -- even after cutting it in half it was a really generous serving and the cherry sauce was amazing. The sides, new smashed potatoes and chard were both delicious but they were cold when they arrived at the table which was disappointing. I would have been ecstatic to have twice as many potatoes and chard and half the amount of meat but everything was wonderfully prepared. It took us 90 minutes to get through dinner and that was early when the place was fairly empty. The menu is pretty sophisticated for children and given the slow pace of the service I don't see this as a great place for families with young children. I thought the supper prices were quite reasonable although I guess if we'd been ordering the small plates we could have racked up quite a bill. We passed on dessert but the menu looked very good. We'll give it a try again in a month or so when the opening kinks are worked out.
