Belted Cow Bistro, The
Simply Excellent
Reviewed by TonyO on May 4, 2013
In a local dining scene that has often morphed into some nonsensical, self- serving, "we are doing you a favor for serving you", the Belted Cow serves up great food without attitude. No need to rename the menu items after some B Movie character, the focus is on proper execution and plating of delicious foods. Decide for yourself, in my opinion the Belted Cow is The Real Deal!

Nika
Something for everyone!
Reviewed by TonyO on March 27, 2013
The menu offerings at NIKA are fantastic. The options allow you to create a dining experience that invites you to try many different tastes all in one visit. The focus is on bright flavors prepared in a healthy way. Fresh herbs, olive oils, and marinades allow for the food to be tasty without being heavy. There truly is something for everyone from vegetarians to omnivores! The wine list features over 30 options by the glass making it easy to pair each course with a wine that will compliment the food. The space is really inviting and has a look that feels urban and inviting all at once. NIKA is a very welcome addition to the Burlington area dining scene!

Upper Deck Pub
A longstanding gem!
Reviewed by TonyO on March 17, 2013
The Upper Deck Pub (upstairs from another landmark, The Windjammer) is all that you would want in a pub and then some. They execute typical pub standards like nachos, wings, and other offerings perfectly but also have upscale offerings and comfort food options. Additionally, they offer theior guests the option to enjoy the salad bar as their meal or as a compliment to other menu choices. The service is always great, the beer and wine selection is excellent, and the value will leave you feeling satisfied. Whether you go upstairs to the Upper Deck or choose the Windjammer, you will have made a wise choice!

Pulcinella's
A perfect place for lunch or dinner
Reviewed by TonyO on March 7, 2013
Stopped by and had lunch at Pulcinella's today and I am glad I did! The New England Clam Chowder was as good as any in Boston or elsewhere. Then came three meatball sliders on deliciously moist potato rolls served with a nicely dressed green salad. The service was great and it is obvious by the personal greeting that all guests receive that Pulcinella's thrives on regular repeat guests. One of the few places on this level that is open for lunch and well worth a visit, day or night.

Men at Wok
The name should have been enough of a clue
Reviewed by TonyO on March 5, 2013
I have driven by Men at Wok hundreds of times always thinking, "what an awful name, I bet the food is bad". Well, I was right. If the inspiration for the name was that crappy 80's band Men at Work, the inspiration for the cooking must be the grocery store aisle that offers La Choy (who actually had a jingle "La Choy makes Chinese Food swing American" but I digress). This was without a doubt the worst Lo Mein I have ever had and there is plenty of competition here in VT. Now that I know better, I will just drive by unless "Who can it be Now" comes on the radio at which point I may have to give in to kharma and order up some wallpaper paste like Moo Goo Gai Pan.
