Pizzeria Verità
Happy, Happy! Joy, Joy!

I've had so much crappy pizza lately (I won't name names), I was SO thrilled to discover this place. It's going to be a tough decision now whether to go to Flatbread or Verita! Love the atmosphere - fun and festive, and I love the fact that there are no TVs! Just really nice people making amazing drinks and pizza. I can't say enough about the drinks - each one made me swoon, it was so good. So creative, and the bartenders took their time with each one. I didn't get to chat with the owner (we sat at the bar), but he was busy going from table to table, making sure everyone enjoyed their dining experience. ...oh, and by the way, I love the fact that they have Nutella - it's yummy!

Absolutely Awful

I had really hoped someone else had written a review for this place (amazing that no one has with all the business they do). Hate to start them off with a bad review, but this place deserves it! I had the great idea of going here on New Year's Day. Thought we'd enjoy a cocktail, maybe an app, and watch the skiers ski. The cocktail I had was awful, and the "flatbread" we got was completely disgusting. The mushrooms were cooked to oblivion, and then I think they were sprinkled with sugar. I've never eaten mushrooms and thought to myself, "These could use a little sugar on them." The "crust" was similar to a large, stale cracker. It makes me cringe just to think about it. The price for our snack was outrageous. I just hate paying lots of money for bad food, so I hope you won't either. Go down the road to the lounge at the Trapp Family Lodge. The drinks are great, the food is fabulous, and the charming and talented John Cassel plays piano there almost every night.

Essex Diners Know...

A good thing when they find it! I took my time giving this place a try, but I honestly don't get out to Essex much, and when I'm thinking of places to eat, Essex doesn't usually leap to mind. I always see a crowd here when I drive by, and this place was worth the trip! Went for breakfast during the week, and we were the only ones there, but I think that's a rarity. I read the other reviews and people seem to like the veggie eggs benedict, so I gave it a try. It was just fantastic. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the poblano sauce had just the right amount of spice, and the salsa on the side was the perfect accompaniment. It was nice to have something light and refreshing with a heavy meal. Other places should try it! Unfortunately home fries did not come with my meal, but I stole a few from my friend, and they were yummy. He had a breakfast burrito and loved it. The owner was there and made sure we were enjoying our food, and the chef was very nice too. Guess where I'm going next time I'm in Essex?

The only thing that impressed me about this place was the pretzel. Best I have EVER had (once I got it). Apparently, they forgot to place my order, so I watched people who had come in after me being served these amazing pretzels. The waitress told me there had been a mix-up and I would get it with the rest of our food. No apology, and no offer to take it off the bill. The mac and cheese we got was decent, not great. The beer selection is amazing, but our glasses smelled so strongly of dishwasher soap, it was difficult to enjoy them. As for ambiance, this place has none, unless you're into "cold and sterile". I prefer warm and cozy, especially in a "German" restaurant. The music was really bad - my boyfriend compared it to a bad highschool band. Sitting on the roof sounds great, but the reality was pretty boring. No music, plastic cups and nothing to look at. It's a shame - I had high hopes for this place. I might be back for another pretzel, but that's it.

Best Kept Secret in Hinesburg!

This little place is SO great. I drive by it every day, but for some reason I keep forgetting about it when I'm looking for a place to go for dinner. We went last night, just because it was snowing and it was on our way home, and it was such a treat! We shared an excellent veggie lasagna and they split it up on two plates for us, brought us a basket of yummy bread, and the two wines we tried were FANTASTIC. Great service too, a fun atmosphere, and the price was right! I also recommend the Chana Masala and the veggie sandwich. The pizza's good too! We'll definitely make a point of remembering this place more often, and try to be there for the live music!

Even if you don't live near Bristol, it's worth the trip. Great coffee and their scones are so yummy. My favorite is the raspberry-almond, but the blackberry scone is fantastic too. Just tried them for lunch this weekend, and it was literally the BEST panini I've ever had. Excellent bread, fresh veggies, basil mayo and top-quality cheese. We couldn't stop raving about it as we were eating! Really nice people behind the counter too. If I lived closer, I'd go here every day. It's a great place to shop for kitchen stuff and wine too. They only stock the best!
