Spot, The
Never Again
Reviewed by siredbyglitter on May 6, 2012
Originally I wanted the title to be "Go Here if You Want Rude Service from Someone that is Not Even a College Student" but it didn't fit. Its not the food here that makes me regret giving them my money, its the service. The first time I went to The Spot 2 years ago and the waitress refused to serve me a beer(I was 23 my valid MA driver's license was an indicator of this however I'm pretty sure the waitress was too stoned to even know her own birthday). After this incident I swore never to go back. The food was tasty but nothing that can't be made at home. Fast forward to today, a lazy Sunday where I don't feel like cooking or waiting around for a table. My boyfriend suggest the drive thru/order online option at The Spot; I cave, why not? So I picked out what I want from the online menu but it is nowhere to be found on the online order form-great. So I get my next choice wait 20 minutes then drive and park my car in the area with the sign that says"Drive thru/order online pick up" then I wait some more. I see servers they see me but no one comes over. After 15 minutes of sitting around being ignored an older woman finally comes over and acts like I should not be there and says "People usually just come in for their food". I'm sorry but when something is advertised as Drive-Thru I don't expect one is supposed to get out of the car and walk inside. When I got home my eggs were cold, I'm pretty sure they were still wam while the serves stood around gawking at me.

Don Pedro's Authentic Mexican Taqueria
Una adición deliciosa a Winooski!
Reviewed by siredbyglitter on March 29, 2012
I'll admit it, I am a burritoholic and Don Pedro's is my new favorit spot. I went there for the first time last week and had the california burrito. It was delicious! The carne was cooked perfectly and I love how the burrito is grilled. The chips were seasoned which was a nice touch. I tried all the salsas and I really enjoyed the spicy peach one, and I'm not one for peach flavors but the spice was just the way I like it and the flavors really complimented each other. Fast forward this week. I'm back at Don Pedro's, this time I get the rotissery chicken burrito with roasted veggies. The chicken was very moist and flavorful and the veggies were cooked to perfection! I'm really excited for my next visit because I am going to try the El Diablo challenge. I have had friends fail so I'm super psyched because this gal loves it hot and spicy!

Penny Cluse Café
Definitely Worth the Hype
Reviewed by siredbyglitter on September 11, 2011
This was my first trip to Penny Clause, and it will not be my last. I have lived in Burlington for 6 years and have never been here. What was I thinking? Every thing on the menu sounded so delicious and I had a hard time choosing breakfast or lunch. I went with breakfast; the special, zucchini bread french toast and a bowl of hot granola. Both were wonderful. My boyfriend got the across the pond and we split a salmon plate. Every thing was so yummy. The coffee was excellent! Some of the best pot coffee I have had in a long time. We left stuffed and very happy, can't wait to go back!!

Union Jack's
Freshly Sliced Meat!
Reviewed by siredbyglitter on March 12, 2011
Let me just say this place is LEGIT! Union Jacks is the only place in VT that can make a proper Italian sub. I am so impressed that they slice the meats to order unlike typical sub joints that have scary sad looking bins plopped full of "meat" behind a dirty glass wall. I also think it is noteworthy to mention that their subs stay yummy over night and don't get all soggy. The service is EXCELLENT! My boyfriend walked in the door at 8pm on a Thursday night and instead of telling him that they were closed (because technically they were) they happily made him a sub. I love when service is above and beyond!

My Little Cupcake — Essex
way better than any muffin
Reviewed by siredbyglitter on January 18, 2011
I went in on MLK day to get a surprise for my boyfriend. I got half a dozen of the little cupcakes. I had a hard time choosing since they all looked so phenomenal. I got 1 salted carmel for myself and it was by far the best thing I have put in my mouth in a long time. DAMN! My boyfriend said his assorted 5 were equally pleasing. Everyone should eat cupcakes for lunch! Go to My Little Cupcake, it will make you smile :)
