The long lines are a testament to the popularity of this breakfast-and-lunch place. Try the "Zydeco" breakfast — two eggs any style, black beans, corn muffins and andouille sausage.

My favorite in Burlington

Penny Cluse is one of my favorite places for breakfast, ever. The staff is always inviting and very caring to their customers needs. It feels like you're eating breakfast or lunch with a bunch of your friends, even when you go alone. The Bellber Combo is my favorite. You get a little taste of your breakfast favorites. The portions are generous, and the food is always top notch. It's a must for anyone who enjoys a good breakfast.

About time I ate here.

I read, I've heard, and now I've experienced for myself. This place has awesome food...no exaggeration. This is just my kind of restaurant too- breakfast and lunch. My wife and I, both ovo-lacto vegetarians, had breakfast there today. She had the "Tofu Scram" with peanut ginger sauce, buttered corn muffins and homemade, hot fresh home fries (with lots of onion to boot). I ordered the "Penny Cluse"- two eggs over medium (my style), biscuits and creamy herb gravy (vegetarian...yay) and some of those excellent home fries. We both had coffee. Let's go right down the list since I got to taste everything:) Tofu scram(ble) with peanut ginger sauce-great. Buttered corn muffins- so nice and hot and well...buttery mmmm good on a cold morning. Home fries- I am a potato guy so...hear me now and listen later "These home fries rock, and roll...all night long sweet Suzy". Eggs over medium, just that, very nice. The biscuits with creamy herb gravy(quite sage-y and super groovy tasting) got me so excited that I couldn't stand up ;) for about half an hour. "MY" home fries- still GREAT!! Coffee was very nice and hot, a bit stronger would have suited my taste better but good none the less. Waitress, nice, personable, efficient. What more could one want? I might go back tomorrow morning. The end. Love Pete

Nowhere else in the area can you find this kind of quality or attention to detail from the waitstaff to the chefs. Yes, the place is usually very busy, but you know what they say about long lines at a movie theatre. I'm absolutely hooked on the chili rellenos, but have somehow been able to try other selections like the egg and cheese sandwich, garlic and kale quesadillas, grilled polenta, and of course don't miss the fresh squeezed juices and their coffee. Never been dissapointed, always leave with a smile and happy stomach.

My hubby and I look forward to breakfast at Penny Cluse whenever we're in B'town in the am. Anything with black beans makes me happy! Also, the fruit plate is divine. He loves the Bucket O Spuds, which we have started making at home. Last week I had a garlicky kale quesadilla which was fantastic. I've never been disappointed! It's really nice when you show up between breakfast and lunch so you don't have to wait...

Unique Breakfast

This place is great if you want something just a little different from your standard breakfast. Even though the lines are usually long here, the wait is worth it for a Bucket'O'Spuds, huevos rancheros, or their awesome tangerine juice. They have lots of vegetarian items as well. The service has always been friendly and efficient, and the price always fair.

rare & splendid

Pennycluse is an institution for a reason! The food is out of this world, offering a menu with almost anything you could think of, always fresh, and often local. The employees are so talented, in both the back and the front of the house. I dream of the taco salad at night, because even though the name is scary, it is the freshest and most divine thing on earth. I order tilapia on it, because I'm a weirdo that craves fish in the mornings, but chicken or tofu are also wonderful protein options. This place rocks!
