Soggy fish and chips a disappointment
Reviewed by hungry4food on December 21, 2009
My husband and I just had the worst fish and chips we've ever had. It was such a disappointment after having had such wonderful fish and chips dinners when the Resevoir first opened. The batter was soggy, flavorless and tasted like the batter to funnel cakes. The fish was bland and didn't seem to be seasoned at all. The coleslaw was okay for flavor, but the dressing was very thick. We let the waitress know, and she said she'd tell someone. Between the fish and chips and a couple of beers and an appetizer, it was one of the worst $40 we spent for dinner in the longest time. I hope that when they put the quality back into the food they advertise heavily to get customers to return. We won't be back for anything but beer.

YAYYYYYY!!
Reviewed by atlas on July 13, 2009
We had to try this place twice before believing it was true, but YES - Waterbury now has another place for great pub food. The Alchemist is good, but it's very difficult to get a table, and my voice gets hoarse from shouting to my tablemates over the noise. When this place was Waterbury Wings, it was definitely a 2nd choice, but under new ownership as The Reservoir, it has become our first. Food is served until late, which works for us. Service was above average, and very competent. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount. Foodies take note: the food is interesting and fun. The Switchback Fish and Chips was perfection (even the fries). Not a note of sogginess, and very flavorful. Crab Cakes, Nacho dip, great. Good wings. Had a Turkey burger from the night's specials and was seriously blown away. Would love for this to be a Vermont Fresh Network pub if possible with local meats, etc., but have read that it may not happen. Also, we'd love to see the beer selection grow to include more high alcohol content brews, and some top shelf Tequila offerings. Still, we are SO glad that this is here, and really hope it's here to stay.
