This award-winning gastropub comes with a pedigree. Look for local burgers, homemade charcuterie, farm-style comfort food, and innovative specials. Rare and prized beers from Vermont and beyond are offered at the bar, in the downstairs parlor, and in the seasonal beer garden.

My wife got a gift certificate for the Farmhouse and used it prior to a function at the Flynn we attended. While the foor was good (I had the sausage platter, she a hamburger) we found the menu very limited and the prices quite high ($13 hamburger?) for the offerings. e don't drink so the alcohol menu didn't impress us, though I'm sue some folks love it. The service was excellent though the place was a bit too noisy for my taste. For the prices we were paying I felt all we were getting was bar food in a bar atmosphere.

    We Like It.

We have been here several times and do like the restaurant. The atmosphere is lively (and loud). Good place to go if you like energy in the room while you are out for some good food and a few beers. We love the local nature of the food and are willing to pay more for that(Local grass fed beef etc.). The only negative: The food seems to always have that "one thing I don't like" on each dish I have tried. Too much bun for the burger, too little bacon on the BLT, too little gravy on the meatloaf etc. That does not keep us away however, we like the food and love the restaurant overall.

    Three Strikes
    Reviewed by Willow83 on March 15, 2011
My husband & I dined at The Farmhouse for the third & final time last night. The main reason we will not be returning is the food. The fact that the food is local is great, but the quality of how it is cooked & the prices is not. We both ordered the beef burgers, med-rare and both of us got well done burgers. This is not the first time this has happened to us, but it will be the last. And the prices are outrageous!! You can get local burgers at other restaurants in town for a third of the price. Our bill was almost $30 with no drinks & before tip. It makes me very sad knowing that I will no longer support a local restaurant that supports the local farmers.

They worked out the kinks...This place is great!

All the things I wrote about when they first opened have been ironed out...This place is awesome. The food is great! The prices are reasonable given the local more expensive and better quality ingredients and the beer is delicious.....The downstairs pub is sweet too! Definitely a weekly visit, only issue is that it's always packed...but for good reason.

    Love the speakeasy
Reviewed by Jessica on February 19, 2011
Both times I've eaten at the Farmhouse I've enjoyed immensely. I love the social atmosphere and the cheese choices. However, my visit to the speakeasy is what drives me to review. The cozy, low-lit atmosphere, the laid back and happy crowd, and the excellent beer choices ensure that we will be back. This is a great place to break yourself out of winter hibernation. It's probably good I don't live in Burlington or I might spend a little too much time drinking beer in front of that fireplace.

    Perfect salad and burger
Reviewed by librarian on December 30, 2010
I was expecting a lot when I finally had the chance to visit this week and the restaurant exceeded my expectations. The service was great (thanks Tabby!), but the food was really the star here. The kale and arugula salad was perfectly dressed -- not too light on the dressing, spiced pecans and blue cheese, but not too drowning in any of it. Raw kale has never tasted so good. The beef burger was out of this world. I got it medium and it was still so moist I practically needed a bib to eat it. The meat was so flavorful and was so well balanced by the cheese, bacon and pickled onions. It was without question one of the best burgers I've had in my life. I'm not a beer person, but having the delicious Rookie's Rootbeer on tap was a great touch. I'm dreaming of the next time I can make it up to Burlington to eat here!
