My boyfriend and I shared a double birthday at The Kitchen Table Bistro last night and left in awe as usual! This is our favorite restaurent in Vermont and we never cease to be amazed by it's consistency, creativity and warmth. I feel the comforts of home but the professionalism and perfection of a high end eatery. The caesar salad and homemade ricotta gnocci are divine! The KTB is a must.
We go to Kitchen Table a couple of times a year, and last night five of us met for one of our best KT experiences to date. This is such a professional operation. Everything runs smoothly. The kitchen operates in a timely manner, and the wait staff seems universally knowledgeable and pleasant. We all ordered salads to begin. I sampled the Savoy cabbage salad which was great, and my Ceasar salad was equally good. The sardines are worth the $1 premium. We ordered lamb shank, steak and salmon and argued over who had ordered best. We finally had to ask that pommes frites cones be taken off the table, because we were all eating too many. We each had a different dessert. My caramel ice cream was one of the most intense ice cream experiences I've had in 60 years of restaurant dining. The only quibble I heard all evening was from the most seriously chocolate-addicted one amongst us who said that he thought the molten chocolate cake had been made with milk chocolate whereas he remembered it's having been made with dark chocolate in the past. All in all, we had a terrific meal with terrific service.
The KTB has always been one of our favorite dining spots whether it is a special evening or a casual meal on a Wednesday night. Last evening was the later that became the former due to an incredible dining experience ! The current menu options make selecting just one entree a difficult proposal based on the wide range of options including beef, poultry, and seafood. All are perfectly paired with creative starches, vegetables, and the amazing sauces that are one of the many attributes of the KTB. After great deliberation, I opted for the Boyden Farm Strip steak with creamed spinach, whipped potatoes, bleu cheese, and red wine reduction that was simply extraordinary. This steakhouse classic was perfectly cooked resulting in a perfect "10". My lovely wife had the grilled veal which was plated with sauteed carrots, another reduction sauce, and whipped potatoes. Each ingredient stood out on it's own accord but it is the combination of flavors and textures that make the KTB such a wonderful restaurant. The faces are always the same and are your assurance of professional and considerate service. This is the definition of what a chef owned restaurant is all about and what makes the KTB such a remarkable establishment. You owe it to yourself and your family to make a date at the KTB.
I've been the Kitchen Table several times over the past year, and it continues to be my absolute favorite restaurant in Vermont. The scrumptious mussels are a must, and the service is a perfect blend of attentive and relaxed.
Went back, not believeing it could be as good as I remembered... but it was! A fantastic wine list, cold not resist another taste of the mussels... and the entrees were masterful. Best resto in VT?
Fantastic wine list... reasonable prices.
Large portions of delicious and beautifully presented food.
Casual and relaxed environment and friendly staff. These add up to the best of the best. Period.
Don't miss the deconstructed ceaser salad or the mussels... and the steak alone is worth the trip.
I am generally not generous with my reviews, but hats off to the Kitchen Table crew!
