While they only serve breakfast until 4pm, this greasy spoon makes all diners look like shams! Comfortable. Cute little old ladies. Awesome milk shakes. Warm booths. Comfort food. Smiling waitresses! Best thing to ever happen to Vermont!

So much improvement! The new decor & lighting is so much more comfortable. The food is far better in general, and the soups are spectacular (try the chowders and vegetable-barley... which they even let us taste in advance). The waitstaff was full of tips on what was specially great. Since there is apparently a lot of turnover in the kitchen, it might just be a temporary improvement... but it sure made my day!

Man o man this place is the best. Such a deal--you can get a good salmon dinner for $7 or a gin and tonic for $2. I just can't get past the specials. They are so good. Great atmosphere too. Everyone is in a good mood because they are feasting at the Wayside!

The Wayside has great food & a friendly homey atmosphere.I eat there at least 5 times per week.My favorites are the meatloaf and the baked haddock.Their desserts are excellent as well. It is definitely worth the trip to this restaurant. Allen, Barre, Vt.

What else needs to be said? :) I always have a good breakfast here and I love that they have stayed reasonable all these years! A nice homey diner...Love this place.

Heard about the recent remodeling and went hoping that they had managed to redo the awful lighting. Well, it is even worse than it was! I had a gigantic light globe not 10 inches from my face. The only way to avoid them is to sit in the 2-seater booths, which are like torture devices. It is time for the Wayside to RAISE their prices, increase their portions, and cook better food and serve it in an environment where folks are encouraged to hang around and enjoy the experience... instead of being so cheap that there is always a line, and the environment screams "GET OUT FAST!"
