This no-nonsense eatery — the oldest family-owned Italian restaurant in Burlington — is an Art Deco wonder. The bottled spaghetti sauce and frozen meatballs are available nationwide. Plus, the resto's superlative lasagna was featured on the Food Network. Lunch served on Friday and Saturday.

I hate crowds, but there's a damn good reason people flock to Bove's. It's not only the home of the best sauces in the world, but also the best lasagna you'll ever have. Since moving to Burlington I've never had a bad time at Bove's. Sure it's a bit small, but we're talking about a building that hasn't changed since the 1940's. That's real history, and great atmosphere for those looking for something that's becoming harder, and harder to find--real, genuine, damn good cookin' just like mom used to make. I love Sakura, I love Sweetwaters, but when I'm hungry for some spaghetti and meatballs, I'm going straight to Bove's. No offense, mom.

Egg noodles and ketchup. If you are expecting anything more, don't bother.

Italian, old-school

Eating at Bove's is like stepping back in time - they serve white bread and butter as an appetizer, and there is nary a vegetable to be seen unless you order an iceberg lettuce salad. However, the sauces are to die for, and the pasta is pretty good too. Service is extremely fast - Bove's is a great choice if you don't want to be late for your movie - and the entire bill for two will likely be under $20. You won't leave hungry!

compared to papa franks in winooski, which advertises the same type of menu, bove's isn't that great. the sauce is really pasty and never chunky or fresh tasting and although it's pretty cheap and walking-distance from downtown, i'd rather go to winooski and eat at papa franks if i'm looking for cheap italian, it's far better and the sauce is more like sauce instead of a can of tomato paste with a little seasoning. however, bove's does make a great vodka sauce that can't be matched elsewhere for the price....

Dont get your expectations up

So, we saw boves on the food network in the throw down show with bobby flay. They made lasagna, their "signature" dish, it looked good so we thought we would head on over to try some. We walk in and it is not what i expected at all, just tacky ambiance, weird smells poorly lit. Anyway you walk in and the food network episode is playing on a loop over and over and over in the restaurant well ok we want some lasgna, sorry the waiter says only on wed's nights, give me a break you are playing it in your restaurant your new clame to fame and you cant even order the dish, I wont be going back here. Restaurants in burlington need to step it up, clean, desirable, nice lighting, and good food, you wouldnt think its to much to ask but i have yet to find a place i am happy with and will frequent. Im tired of putting my expectations down just to go out!

No pretensions pasta

Don't expect too much, this place is old school. What you will get is a good, cheap plate of pasta with lots of flavor. This place will hopefully be here forever.
