WOW! Apres-ski to the next level! Tasty tacos and best VT beers under one roof. $15 got me 2 filling Smoked pork and kimchi tacos and a Lawson's Finest Chinookered IPA.... The pork looked like it was fresh off the hog, smoked and put in the double wrapped corn tortilla that day. Amazing flavor in the smoky pork and tart crisp kimchi with a healthy dose of cilantro.. The staff was great and has this place under calm control. I left with a big smile on my face! I'll be back again and again.....

Best Tacos Ever
Reviewed by RobLR on October 9, 2011
My wife and I drove an hour to get here, and we were very glad we did. These tacos are simply amazing. I had an Al Pastor taco and a Chorizo taco, while my wife had a Chicken taco and a Squash veggie taco. All were fantastic. We also tried an enchilada which they made per our custom instructions, and it, too, was great. There are many more taco varieties from which to choose, as well as a wonderful selection of sandwiches. We will most definitely be back.

Mad good!

I can't believe that there are only 4 comments on this restaurant and only 3 are positive! This place has by a wide margin the best mexican food in the state. My boyfriend and I made the trek down from Burlington to try it, and if gas money was no object, I think we'd be there at least once a month. The folks in the kitchen were laid back, easy to chat with through the kitchen window, and it's clear that they love the ingredients they use because they make some damn fine tacos. Some of the hot sauces and salsas will make you turn red and weep if heat isn't your thing, so pay heed to the heat scale they have on the chalk board next to the list of the dozen or so house made salsas. Yes, a dozen house made salsas! While it's been just long enough that I can't remember all the details to the tacos I tried, I can say that I remember them all being perfectly seasoned with tender meat and bright flavors. The fish taco was especially tasty if I remember correctly. The only room for improvement I could see would be the size of the place. If I went with a group of people it might be hard for us all to share our taco feast without taking up the whole space. That said, the intimacy of the restaurant means that you have a chance to chat with the taco-slingers in the back and rub elbows with the friendly folks that enjoying their carne asada or al pastor right along with you. Now if only they had a food cart in Burlington or a stand at a Chittenden County farmer's market I could get my Mad Taco fix without the trek that would be great.

Great tacos

The person who gave this one star has obviously never been to Mexico: almost everything has pork in it. El Pastor. Chile Verde. Most carnitas = Pork. So next time you're at a taco stand, ask lest yee be Schweined! With that out of the way ... The tacos here are the best in Vermont. Not to mention the homemade-daily salsas ... every time we're in the area, we make it a point to grab some grub here. My only complaint is that I ordered the Pastor one day, and got something that looked more like carnitas. I'm used to almost doner kebab-style BBQ pork that's shaved off from a big spit. No matter ... it still tasted amazing. Great seasoning, hot salsas, good tortillas. It puts anything in Burlington to shame ... Although I'm heading to El Gato tonight, so maybe that will change my mind? Probably not.

Insanely good!

The place is a little jem. It's kinda hard to find and rough around the edges as it's very casual. That said, that is the worst of it, if you consider that "the worst." The tacos are INSANE! They are super fresh and super good. They use a lot of pork because they actually butcher their own pigs for the meat. Apparently they're going to add beef at some point, but right now I think it's just chicken, pork and vegetarian. Anyways, the corn tortillas are great. The veggies, beans, meat etc. is super fresh and the salsa selection is impressive. I live 30 minutes away but I find mysele trying to make excuses to go to the Waitsfield area just to grab some tacos. The food is great. The guys that work there are great. You can tell they love the food and enjoy serving tasty, yummy, dank grub! Definitely worth trying.
