Time to join the 21st century, please

I've always heard so many good things about Good Times. I live in Shelburne, and sometimes find myself cruising through Hinesburg for one reason or another, but until yesterday, I'd never stopped in for a bite at Good Times. First of all, the food is fresh, interesting and tastes wonderful (and is quite affordable) and the staff are all very friendly. The hidden problem with Good Times cropped up when I went to pay my bill. I was eating on my employer's dime and wanted to use my company credit card to purchase mine and my colleague's meal. No dice. Good Times doesn't take credit cards. I was told - by the owner, I think - that they don't want to have to pay the fees on credit card purchases, so they only take cash and checks. I get it. The fees for a merchant choosing to accept credit cards can feel hard for a small, locally-owned business. But in reality, as personal finance in the US becomes more and more "virtual," places like Good Times would be well advised to rethink their policies. It's most definitely a customer service issue. At the very least, the cafe could place a minimum on credit card purchases. For example, no credit cards for purchases under $5.

Great Local Eating with outstanding live music
Reviewed by megstyle on August 2, 2011
I love this place! the perfect combination of casual and inexpensive with consistent food prep. The Caesar and Greek salads are generous and always fresh , the pizza is among the best and the jambalaya-well, where else can you get it around here? The Key Lime Pie always tempts me to ruin my diet. Love the vibe and the staff and when they have live music , well, I can't say enough. Geoff Muldaur? In a tiny intimate venue? Some of the country's best guitarists play here-if you havent attended a live music performance, you need to-Now!

Best Kept Secret in Hinesburg!
Reviewed by vtredhead on December 23, 2009
This little place is SO great. I drive by it every day, but for some reason I keep forgetting about it when I'm looking for a place to go for dinner. We went last night, just because it was snowing and it was on our way home, and it was such a treat! We shared an excellent veggie lasagna and they split it up on two plates for us, brought us a basket of yummy bread, and the two wines we tried were FANTASTIC. Great service too, a fun atmosphere, and the price was right! I also recommend the Chana Masala and the veggie sandwich. The pizza's good too! We'll definitely make a point of remembering this place more often, and try to be there for the live music!

Louisiana dining in Vermont
Reviewed by BigEasy on December 6, 2008
I haven't tried better Louisiana cooking in Vermont. The dishes are authentic and flavorful. Probably not quite as spicy as you might get in The Big Easy, but they'll offer you up a bottle of hot sauce to season to your taste. I haven't tried the Pizza but they look good. The decor is lacking but the staff is very friendly and helpful and with the great food, it's certainly worth visiting this spot.

Good food at good prices
Reviewed by magichatter on March 18, 2008
Though I agree with the other posters about the wobbly chairs and the lack of ambience, the staff is friendly and casual and the food is great. The service is mostly DIY. They have a dynamite key lime pie, but it's hit or miss because they run out quickly.
